On a
very rainy Sunday morning in June, members of the Seacoast Doula
Group set up tables and sold baked goods in an effort to raise
money for cancer research through the Exeter PMC Kids Ride.
The
PMC Kids Ride
“engages youth in philanthropy, instills the value of working
for the benefit of others, and promotes athletic fitness and
physical activity” while “raising money for cancer research and
treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy
Fund.” These values are reflected in the Seacoast Doula Group’s
mission to help local families during the prenatal, birth, and
postpartum periods.
While 150 children between the ages of 3 and 15
rode their bikes in the rain and parents and friends cheered
them on, the Seacoast Doula Group sold everything from decorated
brownie pops to veggie wraps; the bake sale was a huge success,
helping the Exeter PMC Kids Ride to raise over $19,000!
The Seacoast Doula Group plans on baking again
for next year’s ride; for more information, please visit
