Marissa Scott, MA, MT-BC
Certified Birth Doula, Board Certified Music Therapist
Marissa is a board certified music therapist and the owner of the Sonatina Center, a private practice serving children and families in Dover, NH and surrounding communities. Marissa received her Masters degree in Music Therapy & Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She has 8+ years of experience working with children and adults with special needs through individual and group music therapy. While Marissa has always been passionate about working with children and families, her interest in providing support for mothers during childbirth was sparked after the birth of her first son, Cameron, which she describes as “an extremely chaotic experience.” Shortly after Cameron’s birth, Marissa began exploring how she could use music to promote relaxation, decrease anxiety, increase bonding and provide emotional support to mothers in pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. She believes that birth can be a satisfying experience for all mothers and their partners and strives to empower mothers during the birth experience.
Marissa is certified as a Labor Doula through Childbirth International™ and has completed an additional training with Sound Birthing Music™ , where she is working toward becoming a Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth Specialist. Marissa is currently accepting one birth client per month, in addition to offering early childhood music classes, prenatal and postpartum music for bonding workshops for expecting families and individual music therapy services for children with special needs.

Linda Palanza, CD (DONA)
Certified Birth Doula
Linda believes that birth is a sacred moment in time for every woman who ever has or ever will experience it. This moment is fleeting yet profoundly impacts a woman and her child on some level, for the rest of their lives. She believes that women deserve to be allowed to experience this time in a manner that they are most comfortable and confident with. Linda desires to empower women to be self advocates, to better understand their choices and options for their births and to direct them to the proper resources. She also desires to empower both mother AND her partner to be truly present together as their child comes into the world and they transition into parenthood ~ free from the fear that would rob them of the full experience of the joy of birth. She has been passionate in her work as a doula since 1984. She has assisted women from the ages of 16 through 42 in both home, hospital births, c-sections, natural births, VBACs and more. As an ESL teacher, she has experienced assisting mothers whose first language is not English. She has training and experience regarding breastfeeding and postpartum issues as well. She has been a certified birth doula with DONA for 4 years and recently moved to Dover, NH from the Portland, Maine area. She launched Labor of Love Birth Doulas in 2012 and is thrilled to be a member of the Seacoast Doula Group in NH & ME. She is open to using a sliding scale for births, discounts for military families and others in need. Linda has been married since 1978. She has three daughters, one son and three (expecting #4) grandchildren. She home schooled her own children for 17 years and wouldn’t trade motherhood for the world!
